What would you say are the conventional ideas of love, sex and romance?

I mean conventional as in traditional - basically what would you consider to be the so-called accepted standards of western culture/society in terms of love, sex and romance.
and also how do you believe gender factors in with it: are there different standards depending on whether you are male or female?
